Children & Teens

Chatter Boxes — Our Children & Teens Curriculum

A Levels 0–7 curriculum, guided by the CEFR, that gives every child and teen a clear pathway while keeping lessons personalised, conversation-based and genuinely enjoyable.

At Easy English Lessons, we believe that structured learning and individual learning can work beautifully together. Chatter Boxes combines a carefully designed English programme with the flexibility of private, one-to-one teaching, so children and teens have a clear learning pathway while still learning at their own pace, exploring their interests and getting the individual support they need. Our aim is simple: to make learning English engaging, confidence-building, enjoyable and effective. (Looking for adult lessons? See Chatter B’s.)

Every Student Is Different

Every student is different, and we believe their lessons should reflect that. Alongside our curriculum, lessons are adapted according to each student’s:

Level Learning style Personality Pace Interests Strengths Goals

If a student understands something quickly, we can extend the lesson and offer a greater challenge. If they need more time, we slow down, practise and revisit the concept until they feel confident. There is no pressure to simply “keep up” with a programme.

Our curriculum provides the pathway. The student determines the pace.

Our Chatter Boxes Curriculum

Our curriculum progresses from Level 0 through to Level 7, allowing students to continue developing their English from their earliest foundations through to increasingly independent and confident communication.

Lessons are colourful, engaging and conversation-focused, while providing structured development in:

Vocabulary Grammar Speaking Reading Listening & comprehension Pronunciation Writing Communication

Previously learned language is regularly revisited and built upon so that students don’t simply encounter something once and move on. They learn it, practise it, revisit it and gradually become confident using it independently.

Our Curriculum Levels

Eight levels, each building on the last. Select a level to read more.

Level 0 — First Steps
A gentle introduction to English for our youngest and newest learners. Students begin developing confidence with sounds, simple vocabulary, listening, repetition and basic communication through highly visual and engaging lessons. The emphasis is on making English feel safe, familiar and fun.
Level 1 — Building Foundations CEFR: Pre-A1 → A1
Students begin building their core English foundations through vocabulary, simple sentence structures, phonics, speaking and early reading. Lessons encourage students to move beyond individual words and begin communicating using simple English.
Level 2 — Growing Communication CEFR: A1 → A2
Students build on their foundations with broader vocabulary, increasingly independent speaking and more structured grammar. They begin expressing their own ideas, answering questions in greater detail and using English more confidently during conversation.
Level 3 — Discovery & Independence CEFR: approximately A2
English becomes increasingly communicative. Students work with more developed grammar, reading, vocabulary and speaking while learning to explain ideas, describe experiences and participate more independently in conversation.
Level 4 — Explorer Academy CEFR: A2 → B1
Students move into longer conversations, richer vocabulary, more developed grammar, extended reading and greater independent thinking. Lessons encourage students not only to answer questions, but to explain, compare, discuss, reason and express their own opinions in English.
Level 5 — Developing Fluency
Students begin moving beyond everyday communication into increasingly detailed and confident English. Vocabulary becomes richer, grammar becomes more advanced and students are encouraged to speak at greater length, explain their reasoning and communicate with increasing independence.
Level 6 — Confident Communication
Students develop greater fluency and flexibility in the way they use English. Lessons encourage deeper discussion, more complex language, extended reading and writing, and the ability to communicate confidently across a wider variety of topics and situations.
Level 7 — Advanced Communication
Our highest Chatter Boxes level focuses on mature, confident and increasingly sophisticated English communication. Students are encouraged to discuss ideas, defend opinions, think critically, understand more complex texts and use English naturally across academic, social and real-world situations. At this stage, the focus moves increasingly from simply learning English to confidently using English as a tool for communication.

CEFR, Vocabulary & Grammar

Our curriculum is guided by the CEFR — the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. CEFR provides an internationally recognised framework for understanding language development and helps guide the progression of vocabulary, grammar, communication and other English skills throughout our programme.

However, we don’t believe a student should be defined by a number or level. Our levels are there to guide, not rush.

Vocabulary and grammar are introduced progressively and then practised through:

Conversation Reading Speaking activities Writing Games & challenges Real communication

Previously learned language is regularly revisited so students have repeated opportunities to understand it, remember it and use it confidently. If a student is ready for something more challenging, we can extend beyond the lesson. If they need more time, we slow down.

The goal is not simply to know English rules. The goal is to confidently use English.

Conversation Is Part of Every Lesson

One of the things that makes Chatter Boxes a little different is that conversation is woven naturally into our curriculum. Students are encouraged to:

Ask questions Tell stories Share opinions Explain their thinking Talk about their interests Make connections Use new vocabulary & grammar naturally

Sometimes a wonderful conversation takes us beyond the planned activity — and we welcome that. Those conversations give students valuable opportunities to think in English, respond naturally and develop the confidence needed for communication outside the classroom.

Real English. Real confidence. Real conversation.

Working Together

We believe the best learning happens when communication is open. Parents are welcome to contact us about their child’s progress, schoolwork, tests or areas requiring additional support.

After children’s lessons, families receive personalised feedback and homework to support continued learning between classes.
